Phil Holoubek, Lexington’s Real Estate Company & CCS Co-Producer
Phil Holoubek is president and CEO of Lexington’s Real Estate Company (LRC).His real estate company is actively involved in the transformation of downtown Lexington. Two of LRC’s projects, the Nunn Building lofts, and Main & Rose, have added well over 100 loft condo units to downtown Lexington, adding life and vibrancy to this long neglected urban core.
Additionally, his Main & Rose mixed use project has added more than 25,000 square feet of convenience oriented retail, and over 100 retail parking spaces, all on a site that was previously an underutilized surface parking lot. As a result of this visionary project, for the first time in recent memory, national retailers have decided to locate in downtown Lexington. This improves quality of life for downtown residents and workers alike, and helps Lexington recruit knowledge based young professionals to town.
Phil earned his MBA from the University of Oregon in 1995, and has kept the words of his mentor close to his heart …… “You can do good AND do well. The two are not mutually exclusive.” This is evident in many of Mr. Holoubek’s projects from today and the recent past.
His goals are to improve the overall quality of life in Lexington, and to turn Lexington into a nationally recognized “24 Hour” downtown that is considered “hip and cool” among the young professional crowd that Lexington so desperately needs to recruit from other cities across the country.
Since moving to Lexington in 2000, Phil has been actively involved in a variety of civic organizations and ventures aimed at improving quality of life for Lexington’s existing young professionals, as well as recruiting knowledge based young professionals from other cities.
Phil is the founder of a civic organization known as LYPA (Lexington Young Professional’s Association), and has served on the boards of the Lexington Center, Urban League, Bluegrass Community Foundation, Knight Foundation, Downtown Lexington Corporation, and other local organizations as listed below.
Additionally, he has served on a variety of task forces aimed to improve quality of life in Lexington. These include the Budget Improvement Task Force, Downtown Streetscape Task Force, Downtown Circulator (trolley) Task Force, and others.
Phil and his wife Marnie have set up an investment account to be used specifically for funding civic and philanthropic initiatives, with a majority of their funding dedicated to improving quality of life in Lexington.
Phil and his wife also were recently honoured with the March of Dimes 2008 “Building the Community” award for the countless hours they have spent working to improve our community.
On that front, Phil has worked with one of Lexington’s largest employers, Lexmark, to assist in their recruiting efforts. Specifically, Lexmark hosted a reception at Main & Rose for their “Best & Brightest” young professional recruits from around the country, in an attempt to portray downtown Lexington in the most favourable light possible.
Phil’s civic involvement and his for profit projects have received media coverage numerous times in local newspapers, magazines, television and radio.
Phil and his wife Marnie have been married for 10 years, and they have two young daughters, Allison (age 7), and Katie (5).
