  • Tom Martin, Editor in Chief, Business Lexington

    Tom Martin was born in Mt. Sterling and grew up in Morehead where he attended Morehead State University. Now editor in chief of Business Lexington, Tom was a member of the founding 1974 staff of the Associated Press Radio Network in Washington, D.C. where he won a Peabody Award for best radio documentary. In the early 80’s, Tom went on to serve as a news anchor with RKO Radio Network News; ABC Radio Network News; WABC News; and Paul Harvey News in New York.

    Upon returning to Kentucky in 1995, Tom created the “World’s First Rhythm and News Show” format for Lexington’s WVLK and was a founder, program director and program host for Georgetown College Public Radio’s WRVG.

    Tom has served as Director of Communications for the House Majority Leadership in Frankfort.

    A resident of Lexington, he is chairman of the Downtown Entertainment Development Task Force, a member of the boards of directors of The Lexington Forum and the Music Institute of Lexington.

    Tom was the recipient of the 2007 John McGill Journalism Award presented by the Kentucky League of Cities and the NewCities Institute.

    Tom is a co-founder of the local band, The City, formed with other members of the Lexington business and professional communities to perform in support of non-profit arts organizations.

    Tom is married to Sheila Kenny, Director of Marketing for the Lexington Center Corporation. He is the father of six.
